Guess who is 2?

Our sweet little Emmerson turned two on April 3rd! Even though we did not expect to have a 3 week old at home for this celebration we did our best to make it special for Emme!

Our first stop was for donuts! Emme's VERY favorite! We left Claire at home with Nana and Pop Pop so we could spend a little time with just Emme. We thought she would like that attention...we were wrong! The whole time we were gone she worried about where Claire was. All we heard was, " Baby Claire donuts?" she was so confused as to why we would get donuts without her. It was so sweet.

Next stop was the zoo. Not the best day for Claire's first trip to the zoo (she slept through it all anyway). It was cold but we bundled up and went anyway.

Best seat in the house!

When she woke up from her nap the sun had come out and it was so nice. So her and daddy worked in the yard...her favorite pass time.

3 Weeks old

Our sweet little Claire is 3 weeks old! She is finally back to her birth weight and will hopefully continue to gain some weight. She has still been a very easy baby. We are well aware this could change at anytime especially as we near her due date and she starts to "wake up". Emmerson is still crazy over her and is so helpful in anyway she can be! We feel really lucky that the transition has been so smooth so far.

SO sweet!

Having some trouble relaxing...check out how long my fingers are.

We went to a party to watch the Butler game. This is my buddy Jackson. He is only a couple months older than me but as you can see...much bigger!

Fort Wayne

We went to visit Nana and Pop Pop for a few days over Emmers spring break. It was great to be home and for all of our Fort Wayne friends to meet Claire.

Don't anyone worry about Emme having any shortage of attention since Claire has arrived. As you can see everyone makes her as comfortable as possible...

As you will see from the next few pictures this was one of the first time we really saw Claire be alert for more than a few minutes.

Having a heart to heart with Nana

I got to meet Jerry and Sandy (check out Jerry's pink bow in his hair)

Jerry and Emme had dinner after she did his hair.

Pop Pop had conferences so he got home late. He was kind enough to take the late shift so Mom could get some good quiet sleep. Looks like it was a tough job!

We stopped by to say hi to Pop Pop before dinner. Emme loves Pop Pop's school. For no reason other than she is allowed to do what ever she wants.

2 Weeks Old

2 weeks old already! Claire is still doing great. Good eater, good sleeper, and super sweet!

Rough life...I sleep all the time!

Still always "Emme's turn to hold her".

Room for two with this daddy!

When her eyes are open we stop everything to "play" since it never happens!

Checking out my bed.

I almost look long when I stretch!

One week old

One week old. She finally stopped losing weight but hasn't started gaining any yet. Both of her eyes have clogged tear ducts and she is still yellow so...she is looking a little rough!

If you look close you can see all the junk in my eyes. At least they are open. It takes a warm washcloth to make that happen.

Cuddling on the couch.

Look at the yellow around my eyes from here the goggles were.

Rough life...

We had only been home a day at this point so we had not yet explained the smashing the baby vs. hugging. Claire didn't mind.

Back to the hospital...

On Monday (Claire was 6 days old) we had to go back to the hospital. She couldn't keep her jaundice level down on her own and it had gotten to a level they weren't comfortable with. So we were sent back to spend another night at the hospital. It was so sad to see her laying in the crib...she hated it. The googles made her crazy! She was only aloud to be held to be fed.

Don't let the picture fool you... she was not this calm until she wore herself out after hours of crying and rolling around.

The glowing crib.

First night home

We didn't get released until after midnight...which made for an interesting start to our first night at home. With Claire being born at 11:14 pm they wait until exactly 48 hours later to do a test and then you get released. Well due to her jaundice levels being so high we had to wait to hear from the doctor if we were able to go home. So at 12:15 am they told us we could go! Thank goodness Nana and Pop Pop were able to stay with Emmers.

Swaddling and hoping for a good night seeing as it was already 1:00am!

It blows us away that she can sleep so much!
Emmerson was so happy to have baby Claire at home! She had to be right by her at all times.

Daddy checking her out!
