Camping with the Hurshs has become one of the girls very favorite weekends of the summer. As for the adults (mainly the dads) they might sing a different tune... In their defense somehow ever.single.year. we go on the HOTTEST weekend of the summer. This year there were heat index advisory warnings. We heard it felt like 110 degrees one day! The girls look so forward to their time with the Hursh kids and time to explore the woods... So we go and we enjoy it for them.
The adults are outnumbered by kids and Oliver is outnumbered by girls but it somehow works out just fine.
The girls liked the cabin this year because it had a sleeping loft.
We always try to hit as many of the trails as we can. This park had lots of different options. Grass trails, trails down by the lake, and traditional trails throughout the woods.
I felt so bad for this little lady. She spent her weekend in this backpack in a million degree temperatures.
The treasures are endless.
The moms took the big kids on a hike (while the Dads stayed back with the little nappers) that ended poorly. We missed a turn and the trial was no longer just over 2 miles and no longer only moderate in intensity. When we realized that there was no way we could turn around we found our way out of the woods, used a map and walk the road back to a different trail. It took HOURS! We were very proud of our survival skills and were sure the Dads would be too. The kids were champs and the somehow the big guys didn't even notice we were gone much longer than planned.
We even did some lake swimming.
This baby was tired and hot all weekend but never complained.
We climbed in the deer stands.
Walking sticks are always very popular.
Claire caught a tiny toad.
This is the definition of tired....
Everyone came home tired, dirty and happy so it seems like it was another successful camping trip!
